The Folies Bergere was a famous music hall, most popular between 1870 and 1930. It was famous for staging shows and revues featuring scantily clad and sometimes virtually nude women.
In 1882, Manet completed a now famous painting of a barmaid at one of the venue's bars; ‘Un Bar Aux Folies-Bergere’.
The Folies Bergere has its own official website - in French of course!
